Social Welfare Services in Hassan
Karnataka is considered as India’s one of the fastest growing states, with strong industrial development and a vibrant economy. On the south-western part of Karnataka is the Hassan district, although small has a rich history and has also grown over years from an agricultural district to a leading Special Economic Zone (SEZ) area. With this industrial upliftment, the state government has helped the district in many ways for a societal growth.
With the industrial movement, many jobs opportunities have arrived for the residents of the district. Prominent players like Hindustan Infrastructure Projects & Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Unitex Apparels Pvt. Ltd., Airtel etc. have implemented good CSR policies, which have led to formation of good schools, colleges, medical facilities and well maintained roads in Hassan.
As Hassan district has grown over years, many non-government organizations (NGO) have been formed to look after the deprived common man and help in the overall rising of the society of Hassan district.
Charitable Institutions Working for a Better Future
Hassan has many NGOs working day in and day, devoting themselves in the betterment of the district’s overall health, education services, community development and many hindrances generally faced by the poor and the needy. These organizations are generally run by volunteers from the society and are funded by Government or big private players.

Hasanamba Institute for Higher EducationWorking for the past 6 years, this organization is handling different government projects in making the general public computer friendly. They are giving free computer training to women, children and different school students. They design different vocational trainings on cottage industries, for village women across different taluks of Hassan. The institute is a government registered and is under the “Registrar of Societies.”
Currently they give computer training to 500 students every year along with stipend of Rs 500/- per month. The institute is conducting regular vocational classes on beautician training, embroidery, fashion designing, incense stick making, soft toys making and canned food processing for 2000 women of different taluks of Hassan.

ABHIVRUDDI Society for Social DevelopmentEstablished in 1992, under the Karnataka State Societies Registration Act, this NGO is looking after village level institutional reform, improving socio-economic condition of the poor, women empowerment and micro credit management.
Few of the ongoing projects of this organization are:
- Mobile Health Clinic providing free medicine and medical check-ups.
- Reproductive and Child Health looking after infant mortality reduction and health of reproductive aged women.
- House Construction providing interest free loan to poor villagers for construction and repair of brick and mortar houses.
- Integrated Watershed Development Program helping in agricultural development.
- Micro Finance programme helping with the banking services in all the 70 Hassan villages.
- Safe Drinking Water Supply Project to reduce health hazards among village people.

Peoples Education SocietyThis society is government registered since 1985, and is looking after child and adult education, old age home, health of the rural people, micro financing and development of the tribal affairs.

- HIV eradication drives across all Hassan taluks.
- Immunizations in slums.
- Awareness generation campaigns for rural women.
